Breakthroughs in this area are revealing new insights into chemical bonding, new forms of catalysis, and ultimately will generate the future chemistry needed to produce a sustainable chemical industry that utilises these most abundant natural resources.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-86a4dfb e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"86a4dfb\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc2c998 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"fc2c998\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f0397c6 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"f0397c6\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d4a78e9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d4a78e9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Fluorine is an important element used in the design of bioactive molecules, occurring in approximately 20% of pharmaceuticals and up to 35% of agrochemicals currently on the market. Due to the almost complete absence of organic fluorine in nature,\u00a0<sup>19<\/sup>F NMR is an excellent tool for studies of biological and environmental systems with\u00a0<sup>19<\/sup>F incorporated. The new\u00a0<sup>19<\/sup>F cryoprobe is the most sensitive and versatile probe for such studies \u2013 a direction being pursued by a number of research groups in the SoC and Scotland. \u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9b07463 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"9b07463\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b8b223b elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"b8b223b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-791ba7d e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"791ba7d\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7f62766 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7f62766\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The upgrade includes two Bruker Smart Nitrogen Liquefiers for recycling of the liquid N<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0required to cool the NMR magnet. This will save 77,000 L of liquid N<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0over a 15-year lifetime, which would otherwise have to be produced at high energy cost. The NMR facility, led by Facility Manager, Mr Juraj Bella, previously pioneered Helium recovery in UK NMR labs, and continues to drive towards increased sustainability across its activities.
