The EaStCHEM ECR Conference is an annual open event jointly organized by EaStCHEM partners the University of St Andrews and the University of Edinburgh, aiming to bring together early career researchers in chemistry (final year PhD students, postdoctoral research associates and fellows) from across Scotland to communicate their research among peers, promote discussion across research themes, and network for their future careers.

This year, the theme of the meeting was “Career opportunities in Chemistry”. Alongside research presentations, attendees had the opportunity to hear from speakers who have taken a variety of career pathways including both education focussed and academic research led University professions, industrial R&D, as well as patent law.

During coffee and lunch breaks, attendees networked over poster presentations. In total 35 abstracts for poster presentations were submitted and communicated.

A huge thank you to the event’s sponsors ThermoFisher Scientific, Fisher Scientific, Teledyne Labs, Alvatek, GPE Scientific Ltd, Julabo, Fluorochem, and main sponsor Afton Chemical.
